Our Programs

Housing/Neighborhood Stabilization

The ABCD, Inc. helps to provide affordable housing to low-moderate income families through the development of apartments, single family, and condominium homes. In addition to providing new housing for families, these developments help to revitalize older neighborhoods.

ABCD contracted with the cities of Canton and Massillon along with the Stark County Regional Planning Commission to purchase, renovate and sell houses which were in foreclosure.

Our (15) vehicles traveled 380,795 miles making medically related trips throughout Ohio during the 2016.  Daily trips were made serving an average of 75 people. In addition, 66 people were regularly transported to several Dialysis Centers in Stark County including those nocturnal clients who complete their (8) hour treatment at 3:30 A.M.

This service is very significant to many people; such as a 10-year old boy who received a liver transplant and desperately needed transportation every quarter to see his specialist in Cincinnati.

In 2016, ABCD provided transportation services to those 55 and older through a contract with Area Agency on Aging - Direction Home providing a total of 892 trips, serving 54 unduplicated elderly citizens, daily.

Services were also provided for area social service agencies, adult day care providers and churches.

Energy Conservation

We know that there are many people who are without heat; therefore, the ABCD, Inc. insulates an average of 250 houses per year and installs an average of 50 furnaces through a contract with the Cleveland Housing Network. Primarily funded by government funds and the Dominion East Ohio Gas Company, homes are likewise furnished with carbon monoxide detectors.
